Registration will be capped at 15 participants. We look forward to seeing you soon!

UPDATE: REGISTRATION FOR THIS WORKSHOP IS CLOSED. To join our waitlist, please email us and specify if you are interested only in this event, or in learning about future FoRR-led workshops in the Reedy River watershed.

You don’t need to be an environmentalist, fisherman, or scholar to become a water quality monitor! All are welcome to learn how to collect data that can help protect and restore freshwater streams.

This training will provide classroom and hands-on instruction for volunteer monitors on how to: select a monitoring site, use equipment properly, collect samples, test water quality, enter data, assess stream conditions, and practice safety in the field.

This workshop focuses on macroinvertebrate monitoring. You will learn about stream habitat and pollution sources, and practice collecting and identifying macroinvertebrates. Certified volunteer water quality monitors can then adopt a stream to sample biannually.

Be prepared to get your feet wet in a shallow stream! Please bring rubber boots, water, and a packed lunch.
You must attend the full workshop to become a certified water quality monitor.
